Thomas Bangalter from the electronic music duo Daft Punk has just released CHIROPTERA

Thomas Bangalter, renowned founder of the legendary French electronic music duo Daft Punk, has just digitally released CHIROPTERA, the soundtrack for a performance created with artist JR and choreographer Damien Jallet realised by 154 dancers in the forecourt of the Paris Opera House on November 12th 2023. In addition to its release on all digital platforms today via Bangalter’s own Alberts & Gothmaan imprint, the label has also launched pre-orders for a vinyl edition that is set for release on August 30th – order it here.

The CHIROPTERA soundtrack represents merely a fraction of the preparatory music composed by Bangalter for the performance. The full project, containing 5 hours and 50 minutes of music, is also being made available today as CHIROPTERAMATIERE PREMIEREvia all streaming platforms and as a 10xLP vinyl record box set in a strictly limited edition of 200 numbered and signed copies exclusively at Galerie Perrotin in Paris and on Atelier JR webshop.

Bangalter is celebrating the dual release with the debut of ALETHEIA 19, a sound installation prepared in the wake of his work on CHIROPTERA. The installation, which consists of nineteen monophonic microgrooves cut on vinyl and presented in a simultaneous unsynchronised playback, is part of DANS LA LUMIERE, JR’s fourth exhibition at Galerie Perrotin in Paris. The exhibition presents a series of recent works inspired by the CHIROPTERA project. ALETHEIA 19 will be presented in the Espace Saint-Claude from June 7th until June 15th.
