Lorenzo Senni presents ‘Windows To Look In’ a project curated by Threes and selected by Italian Council

WINDOWS TO LOOK IN, a project by the artistLorenzo Senni, one of the winners of the twelfth edition ofItalian Council(2023), the prestigious international programme of the Direzione Generale Creativit Contemporanea of the Ministry of Culture that promotes Italian art in the world.

The project is part ofLorenzo Sennis research path, which in the past has dealt with themes such as voyeurism and vandalism. InWINDOWS TO LOOK IN, the artist will create a work consisting of 14 photographs and a musical composition, exploring the concept of false reflectivity, conferred to the work by the special paint with which he creates the photographed subjects.These evoke the act of looking and looking at oneself, the need to compromise ones self.

The project originates from a period of research and study in Los Angeles with American photographerJohn Divola. During this collaboration, Senni deepened his understanding of Divo- las photographic technique, which emerged as a significant source of inspiration for the entire project. In particular, the famous photographic series from the 1970s entitled Dead Mirrors plays a key role in his influence.

The work will be previewed with an exhibition at theFundao de SerralvesinPortoand the entire project will be promoted internationally through a series of dedicated events, realised in collaboration with theBourse de CommerceinParisand theMUNCHinOslo.

At the end of the international promotion,WINDOWS TO LOOK INwill be exhibited atMAXXI LAquila Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo, and will become part of its permanent collection. The entire artistic process will be documented in afilm curated byCourtney Harrenmbergand a publication that will be presented at theFONDAZIONE ICA MILANO
